This article is from March, 2025, but it's an excellent distinction that wasn't clear in my own mind till I read this.
it is a grave mistake to say that a massive mine performing a massive amount of work, contributes massively to the Bitcoin network.
There is no reward for doing work in Bitcoin mining. There is only reward for showing the network your valid proof-of-work.

If anyone is trying to solo mine at that scale they better have cash reserves.
Might have missed the point, but isn't that the main reason why miners use pools? So they don't go bankrupt.

I love his daily OP_RETURN newsletter. He doesn't discriminate against slop as much as I'd like, but it's more mining and energy focused, it's daily, and there's usually something I missed in it.
