My argument is they don't want to waste time and money to take me to trial over a speeding ticket so they will resolve with a lower fee. 

Sounds like it's pretty much the same as in Portugal. The only difference is I don't think you can contested speeding tickets here. So what was your argument for fighting it?

343 depending how much over the speed limit you were going. If you are going 50km over the speed limit it is more and there are other penalties like a 30 day license suspension. Last ticket I got was from a speed camera. I think it was around

I think it was around $180 but I contested it and they knocked it down to $70.
