While the Admin has had some of the best and funniest social media posts turning things used against them back on people and organizations… this one might be crossing a line… I'm not a big fan of moves like this the guy hasn't done anything wrong and its just a bad look.
Personally, I don't like how the administration is leaning into the culture war. I thought Alligator Alcatraz was bad taste, even though I broadly support efforts to reduce illegal immigration. Speedway Slammer is also kinda gauche, in my opinion.

Since the Prez had said he wanted to reopen Alcatraz I kinda gave the whole Alligator Alcatraz talk a pass cause that way he can in theory claim a “win”. Since it also used already existing government infrastructure I was also a fan of the government using what it had and not building some brand new crap.
Its a slippery slope and the social media team is getting closer and closer to going to far (well in this case they have)

It irritates me how gleeful the administration seems to be about this. You are still dealing with human beings. I understand enforcing immigration laws but you can do it in a professional humane way.

I totally see and get that but at the same time I think so many people are sick and tired of the issue and how the previous admin and even states like Cali really took taxpayer dollars and spent them on flying illegals or in Cali’s case providing them with health care on a level that not even citizens can get.
The flash and awe while not even remotely ideal has gotten results. It goes viral and word spreads to Latin America, Africa, Asia, etc and for better or worse people aren't making that trip now. This whole landscape has changed so much in the last few years with Republicans being the hard nose ones which is the opposite of what big business would want. Clips of Bernie and Warren are just completely opposite of what they clamor for now.
I don't agree with all that the Admin has done but enough is enough. We told people to deport themselves we even offered to pay them and those that ignored it well breaking the law has consequences. One point in particular that has rubbed me the wrong way is how people are so upset over families being split up. Well the parents could take their kids with them we aren't holding them hostage and more importantly if an American citizen is arrested are faces jail what happens? The family is split up. Why should someone who willingly broke our laws be above our citizens?

That's an interesting perspective. The effects are definitely being felt. I was in Mexico earlier this month and it took us 45 minutes to cross the border back into America, when the same time last year it would have taken 3-4 hours

And honestly I'm conflicted and go back and forth. At the end of the day though being from Texas and having spent a ton of time in the Valley its progressively gotten worse and worse. My dad ended up selling his property in Weslaco because it just wanted to wasn't worth what he got out of it compared to the issues.
My biggest thing was that a ton of options have been given since the start of the year. If you have still chosen to risk it now… I mean you had so so so many opps.
