We have another very interesting draft to evaluate.
The player who had the best career is indisputable, but was it inevitable?
Hop in your time machines and tell the Bulls who they should take with the number one pick.
While you're at it, you may as well rank your top 3 choices for them.

Knowing what we know now, I would take Westbrook in the redraft. Rose is a great great player, but the injury plagued career stops me from taking him at number one.
reply
That's the question. Was an injury plagued career inevitable?
Probably, but maybe if he doesn't have that one terrible injury in 2012, the rest of his career is different.
Also, that Bulls team with Rose and Jimmy was awesome. Without the injury, there's a good chance they win a title, especially since Playoff Jimmy hadn't even emerged yet.
As good as Russ has been, we know his ceiling is lower than best player on a title team.

Rose Westbrook Jordan

I might've said Rose if another team was drafting first, but my operating assumption is that if you just repeat the actual draft, then you also repeat the actual history.
reply
Well, no, because Westbrook will go 2nd this time, which means the whole timeline is a little different. So, the league is different and events will play out differently.
reply
The way I interpret these hypotheticals is that I'm the only one with knowledge of the future, not the whole league.
reply
I guess I never specified that, but we were initially thinking in terms of full redrafts where every team is privy to this future information.
The poll format just doesn't lend itself to a full redraft. Plus, there aren't usually more than a few memorable players, anyway.
reply
I suppose it makes more sense for whole league anyway. If I'm the only one with private information, the best move is actually to draft who the league perceives as best in the moment, then trade for the ones that were undervalued.
Woah! Jordan over Love? Explain yourself.

It was a toss up. Never been much of a Love fan. He did have a few really great years. I also liked Lopez. It was pretty much a toss up between the 3 for me.
reply
Love's one of my favorite role players ever and I've never been a DJ guy, so I didn't think it was close.
What about the headliners? Was Rose vs Westbrook a tough call?

Knowing what we know now makes it a tough call.
reply
That is the point of the exercise.
They both played a physically reckless style, but we learned that Russ is built like a tank.
*Apparently I typed "Ibaka" instead of "other" because I was thinking about him.
reply
Yeah I was like "Serge Ibaka missed the VORP cutoff"
sees Serge Ibaka in the poll
