My form class from NorthLight School performed a dance for the second time today. When they did so last semester, I thought it would be a nice once-in-a-lifetime experience for them. Who would have thought that they would sign up to perform again? All this happened because one of them expressed an itch to perform way back in February. Never underestimate the quiet, yet persistent stirrings of a willing heart.

Had a compo conferencing with one quiet and hardworking girl from the P5 class. Instructed to be mindful of her numerous spelling mistakes. She then asked, “But sometimes I don’t know the correct spelling,” to which I advised her to just use other simpler words. It’s far more important to spell accurately than to use bombastic vocabulary. But I’m most impressed by her ready question. Too many young minds go through life, not thinking for themselves. The fact that she is self-aware of her weakness (and has no tuition for English) makes me want to work as hard as an eager beaver.
