We might talk about this a bit on the next episode of the pod or maybe punt it to next week but I haven't been less bullish on the Dodgers this season than I am since the trade deadline.
They are still an excellent team but they are no longer the runaway favourites. Below are the top 9 teams based on World Series odds.
Heading into the last 1/4 of the year, who is the best team in MLB?
Dodgers20.0%
Phillies20.0%
Brewers20.0%
Mariners0.0%
Tigers0.0%
Blue Jays20.0%
Padres0.0%
Astros0.0%
Yankees 0.0%

Can't go against the best with my little knowledge about the game. The Brewers for sure.

They are certainly playing the best right now. Going for 14 wins in a row today. We will see what kind of noise they can make in the playoffs. I don't think they are the best team but they are very impressive and once you get into the dance anything can happen.

I never dwell among stats because more than often I've seen things happening that noone imagined. So I think what's ticking right at the right time is gonna be right. They are already one of my finalists for the NL

Alright. Well we will be doing another Playoff points challenge so you will get to select them and win some sats if your prognostication comes true.

That's great. If they continue the momentum, I'll even pick them for the World Series, and lose there.

METS

METS are definitely making it to the playoffs as wild card.

I do think they will. They are 1-9 in the last 10 and still in a WC spot. They just need to get back on track and it shouldn't be too hard to hold off the Reds. The Reds aren't very good.

I was so bullish in the Mets going into this year but I don't know what has happened to them. They might not even make the playoffs. Hopefully they turn it around soon.

They are having a great season but I wouldn't go that far. They need to get the bye so they can go straight to the division series. I think a Wild card series even if at home might be tough for them because whoever they face likely has better frontline starters. Jays are good because their team is deep. Their rotation is good 1-5, their bullpen is solid all the way through and they have a good, balanced lineup where guys can be put in positions to succeed. I think their type of ball works better in a longer series where their depth can be an advantage. I am really pleased with their season and I think they have a good chance to hold on to win the East and be one of the top two teams but I would have a number of teams ahead of them.

This was mostly tongue in cheek haha I think they’re playing well but probably aren’t the absolute best. Thank you for your detailed analysis
