I think (and this is really just my personal opinion, not based on experience) that with current technology it is possible to build fairly short-lived modular homes. I don't know how long they will last, but I don't think they will even come close to 30 years... It is likely (certainly) that this technology will develop in the future, and then perhaps it will be possible to build more durable modular homes.
