During this time I gave myself the task of learning more about bitcoin, I was looking at some mining but I realized that buying equipment to mine is very expensive, I heard in a place that you could mine With a laptop, but then it turns out that the difficulty was very high and would take centuries, I would like to hear some recommendations to start in this wonderful and at the same time complicated world,If you made it to the end, thank you very much.

Unless you’re fairly technically inclined, I don’t recommend starting with mining.

Try earning sats by engaging in discussions here. You’ll learn a lot in the process and that might help you figure out the right path for you.

what if you can plug your miner into your student housing grid lol

reply

Good point! Mining might be the place to start after all.

reply

Mining is interesting but very expensive

You can start small with a Bitaxe. Just getting everything setup to where you're receiving sats will be a good learning experience.

No node is needed?

reply

Not to get started. You can just plug it in and point it to a pool like Ocean. You will need a bitcoin address, though.

Once you have that set up, you can move on to figuring out how to receive lightning payments from Ocean and setting up a node.

If I did it secretly it might work 😂 but I'd have to get a miner first

reply

Thank you for your recommendation, I will take it into account.

Look at the YouTube series "Ubuntu node box." Build your own node and learn a lot.

@k3tan is the instructor.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the node was meant to generate sats?

reply

A node validates your balance in a sovereign way.
