Thanks. It seems that a PassKey is required to use. I'm using Ubuntu only here, so that's not possible for me. Lmk if I'm wrong on that.

Yep, currently it’s passkeys only. We’re working on backup options, so that’s coming soon. For now passkeys are the most secure and practical way in Piggy.

Very cool thanks for posting the video.
Overall concern is who holds the private key?
And what if the recipient doesn’t use Apple? Do they still need a passkey?

Hey, sorry, we moved the video. This post is outlawed anyway.
Apple Wallet is optional, and Passkey (FIDO2 Webauthn) is supported on all platforms.

The video does do an interesting job of explaining the use-case. I'm a little surprised at the strong reaction you got here, but perhaps not completely surprised.
Thinking about your ideal user, though: it needs to be someone who is familiar enough with bitcoin that they have a lightning wallet (I see you do onchain as well, but the lightning use-case is far more compelling), and be someone who wants to gift bitcoin to friends and familiar, and be someone who doesn't mind that it's custodial.
As you've pointed out in the comments on your last post, lots of "hardcore" bitcoiners use coinos and other custodial solutions for lightning -- seemingly without the same outrage they expressed at piggy. I bet you could solve this problem by positioning piggy as an onboarding for normies tool and not a storage or timelock or cold storage tool.
Alternatively, (you probably already realize this) if you find that the rabbit-hole-dwelling bitcoiners have a strong negative reaction, just accept creditcard and payment processors and try to market to normies.
I doubt Piggy in its current form will ever appeal to bitcoiners who are on nostr or SN or even X.

For me, the bad vibes it gave off is the stuff about AI integration. AI is just kind of a bad buzzword for me now because everyone seems to claim it. The collectible piggies also give off a sense of NFTs, which a lot of people react badly to. I actually think it's fine, but the stuff about "fungi" and "rarity" felt a bit scammy to me.
I'm on the fence about Piggy as to whether it's a scam. Even if it's not, I probably wouldn't use it, but I could see how some people might enjoy it.

I get the AI buzzword fatigue. For now the way we use AI is simple: paid Piggies each have their own personality. Traits shape how they talk to you, cheer you on, or even roast you.
MCP integration will come later so agents can handle real transactions. Until then, it’s about making saving with Bitcoin a little more fun and personal.

It looks so cool the design is enticing but not your keys not your coins. So I’ll just keep using satcards to gift bitcoin

Piggy is built for everybody. For non bitcoin folks it is the easy first step. For bitcoiners it is a simple way to gift, save or just play with something new.
AI helps teach on the go, and cold storage still has its place. Piggy just makes Bitcoin approachable without taking away other options.
Appreciate the thoughtful feedback, it helps us shape Piggy the right way.
