What is the “bill generator”? A paper wallet tool?
HongBao is a good use case for ecash. The problem with giving away L1 bitcoin on paper is that many will lose it. It’s been this story year after year. It’s far better to give people the ability to reclaim their unclaimed gifted sats after some timeout.
We strongly suggest that they transfer it as soon as they get the gift
Having the possibility to reclaim their sats means that we keep their private which we don't and especially it's against self custody ^^
the vendor shouldn’t have custody, for sure. The problem is that you can scream self custody, but people will ignore it. Every lost coin is a gift to everyone, but I do hate to see it.
the gifter should retain custody until the recipient has transferred it. Ecash is nice because there are less on chain fees to take possession. If many people are claiming onchain around lunar new year, fees could get high. High fees mean people are less likely to take custody.
It would be interesting to see how many sats are effectively burned from HongBao due to loss. What is the model of the “paper” — it is a sweepable seed phrase?
