I used to use Hugo for my blog, but then I realized all I really need is to parse markdown to html.
So now I just have this script that mainly uses goldmark with extensions and html/template.

Back in the day, I self-hosted a static blog with jekyll on S3. If I didn't need anything too fancy, I'd do something similar today.

Used to use GravCMS as another nym during the flat file CMS craze, which seems to have been overtaken with the JAMstack craze since.
Looking into Astro now for personal & blog. Probably overkill, but I kind of dig their ideas and want to learn it more.

I've started a blog with mdx components and Next, and another one with Eleventy. I'm trying to find a flow that is reasonably simple and can work with external CSS imports. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone, I will try out a few of these before I commit
