just never seemed better than core?

I'm interested in an alternate implementation like libbitcoin because it makes different trade-offs and has different assumptions about Bitcoin. I think knots is similar enough to Core that it's not really an alternate implementation.

Yes knots is only a fork of bcore with extra mempool controls and options.

I think we should have a lot of Bitcoin software options. That way no single dev team has too much pressure on them.
