If so, there could be two explanations:

  1. the TV is in another room, where Ivan's younger sibling is now occupied watching, no longer distracting Ivan from homework.
  2. Ivan wants to train his unshakable attention by exposing himself to the distraction of the TV.

The answer is unfortunately much more mundane. I had a brain wiring lapse in which I typed on when I had wanted off haha
