Rationale: I'm hanging in my friend's patio with glass of wine rn. There are 3 other people here: none of us is on Twitter - we all left that long ago - each of us own more sats than world population/21M would allocate to us.

I agree. My daily life says something similar. Few of the bitcoiners I regularly interact with in the real world are on bitcoin twitter.
And yet it can feel like the while ecosystem...

My only source of exposure to Bitcoin Twitter is SN, maybe once a year the mailing list has a link. It's generally uninteresting to me because of the retarded hyperbole and clickbaiting on that platform, and the toxicity of the people with the most followers.

100% agree if it wasn't for one person in PL telling me about everyone and what they are doing on Twitter every day I would never know. (Awe miss Justine she always gave based tweets.)

What's Twitter?
reply
Indeed.
reply
Don't know if this makes me a freak or something, but I've literally never had a Twitter.
reply
Same here. I honestly have no idea how to use it. It seems like it's useless unless you have an account, because when I look up people's Twitters while not logged in, i usually see an old tweet from like 2016 or something, and it's totally disorganized
reply
Crazy coincidence, same thing happened to me when I looked for that tweet. I had to Google it with a piece of the text in quotes.
reply
It surprises me how popular Twitter is, given how hard it seems to be to use without being logged in

Twitter is brain damage

What's a "Bitcoiner" and what's "Bitcoin Twitter"?
reply
Bitcoiner = someone who has some amount of bitcoin
Bitcoin Twitter = the part of the X.com platform that is likely to show up if you search for keywords like #bitcoin.
reply
Surely it’s less than 10%, especially if “has some amount bitcoin” includes paper bitcoin.
reply
Yes, but also I don't think it should include paper bitcoin holders.
reply
If we go to the other extreme and only include non-custodial holders, then I don't have a good sense of the answer.
reply
what is Twitter? only SN and Nostr!

I am pretty active on what is known as Crypto Twitter (CT). And although folks dabble in other currencies, most if not all, are bitcoiners.
It's where I get most if not all of my crypto news. Many of them sport orange backgrounds or laser eyes to show they are bitcoiners, and there are lots of folks who even host spaces.
Idk I say 25% because not everyone is on Twitter, but most of the folks on CT are def bitcoiners.

I don't have an X account
reply
Reminds me of the missing "🐦"!
TBH, I use X "Twitter" but for other reasons than Be part of "Bitcoin Twitter". I don't use any other Social Media than SN and X. I use X generally for economic and sports news.
And because I use it, I can tell you there are hardly any real Botcoiners on X. Most are Saylor Patrons or talk about price all the time or keep comparing Bitcoin to something irrelevant.

I only see from Twitter what’s shared here
