It's dark, violent and bloody so you have to be good with that. First few seasons were really good.

The book series is good too. If you like to read fiction. I don't read much fiction anymore but I did read of few of the books when the series was first becoming popular.

I too don't read too much these days, the drive to read is lost somewhere. If it were a biblical, mythological or a classic, I'd definitely read it.
Currently watching Dexter Resurrection, about halfway through the season. Highly recommend for anyone that liked the original Dexter series.
