The way the 49ers were playing the 4th quarter I think they were taking the no kicker approach. Rather throw up a jump ball to win than try to let Moody tie it. They went for it on 4th multiple times which they rarely do. Shanahan was only putting Moody in there out of absolute desperation or for an extra point.
