Had a less than successful experience with the water pump for the rear window wiper on my hiace this week- took the motor apart and put it back together but it would not spin- ended up buying a new one. It looked like the impeller had seized due to junk in the water tank but I could not see how to free it up as it was inaccessible. Could have bought a new one from aliexpress for $12NZ but at the local shop the same pump was $42NZ- so I paid a $30 premium for my impatience. Am planning a long trip on dusty roads soon so wanted to get it sorted. The economics of fixing things are less positive than they were before globalisation but it is still often much more satisfying to fix things than replace them.
