yes and no; deep knowledge of the material and the psyche can be wielded to create positive/creative OR negative/destructive effects in the world on an individual level as well as in the collective; it's not all bad; however, most information has been perverted toward bad deeds by bad people; what u refer to as "free-masonry" is not longer free nor true masonry... more of an enslaving dark masonry;

yes, something like that; i wud start with the hermetic principles, those seem to me as the most neutral and logic-friendly building blocks
