😂 Probably NFTs he bought and now he's just shilling them 🤣

FYI @k00b didn’t get any territory revenue with the 12am ct rewards.

reply

Thanks, he will look into it when he's back online

reply

look's crossposting isn't working either. Or is maybe just my browser?

reply

do you get an error?

reply

no error. when I click the post button, the page does not (re)load (no yellow bar at the top), no redirect to /top, and the post button stay deactivated. I had to check the ~Design/top to doublecheck if the post has been posted or not. It turn out it was.

reply

Ahh, ohh, but I think we don't wait for crossposting to finish on post, so that should be unrelated.

Did your crosspost not succeed?

reply

yes cross post did not suceed. but no error on page. Not sure is then related with the nostr extension. I might try to log our and log in again.

Sorry, crossposting has not seen a lot of love for months or even a year, so I would not be surprised if there's something broken.

We will overhaul it later this year.

Sounds good.

reply

huge db migrations suck nards

reply

What's the total size?

reply

On the order of the number of payments to, through, and from SN, custodial and not. Probably 10s of millions of rows migrated roughly.

The hardest part is we're going from low detail to high detail and that we need to not destroy information in process despite some of the data being mostly historical at this point. e.g. referrals used to earn you a portion of a stacker's zaps, so every time they were zapped we gave you money. or, at one point 50% of a sybil fee went to rewards and the other 50% went to the territory founder. I'm having to find analogous representations of these things in the new schema or add defunct stuff to it.

reply

Ah, I can see how that'd be annoying

reply

Hey @ek my failure rate for zaps has been abnormally high

What do you think is causing this? Should I reset my NWC? The arrow for sending stays red for some odd reason.

reply

Reseting won't hurt.

If you want to know what went wrong, Alby Hub's logs might also have useful info. If your channels are Tor channels, sometimes that'll cause intermittent issues which tend to clear up after awhile.

If these zaps are to one stacker in particular, it might be a problem on their end.

reply

I’ll give it a reset it’s just been random failures mostly with zaps and new posts

reply

If that doesn't fix it, let me know and we can investigate more. It could be a lightning network thing - like a liquidity problem or a flakey channel.

don't do it

reply

To me, it doesn't make sense that Bitcoin Lightning⚡ hasn't achieved a high level of adoption 🤔

reply

no offline receive, must manage liquidity, to start you have to open a channel, you can't just receive a little zap.

sure wallets are solving all of these problems in different ways, but the clunkiness is still there. one must be pretty motivated to persevere to the point where everything feels easy.

reply

For an average user who uses Wallet of Satoshi (WoS), there are no such technical difficulties.

reply

If you ask me, using lightning in a custodial way is not adoption. Lightning is engineered to enable self-custody, but if you choose not to, you’re not really using lightning. It’s just like saying “people buying and holding bitcoin on exchanges is adoption.” Sure, in some way it is, but is it really though? Is it the adoption we care about?

So you basically answered your own question why there has not been more adoption. You haven’t even adopted it yourself.

reply

ah, yes, i see that. but I'm not really sure what WoS has to offer over PayPal in that case...

maybe it's that you can send international more easily?

reply

LNServer is truly something, thank god for CCs

reply

I assume LNServer is your LSP?

I can recommend private channels to SN.

reply

Yeah it’s been a year with LNServer as LSP and got downtime 10 times at least. I literally forgot about my node lol, I have to fix this

It is a private channel though, do you have other LSPs you can recommend?

reply

Do you have a private channel to SN?

reply

Oh wait, you mean a private channel TO sn's node.
No I didn't do that, but I could move some funds around and get it done. Why didn't I think of this? Thanks!

Words are not violence. When you pretend that views that oppose your own are violence, you are justifying the use of actual violence towards the speaker.

Be very vigilant to the use of the word "harm". That is a frequently used word in these communities, that certain actions or words cause "harm", and it's a quick hop and step from "harm" to "violence". I know because my wife works in a field that is adjacent to this all this (the disability community)
