At home, we were facing an increasingly uncomfortable problem: closet space was becoming insufficient. Between the children's summer and winter clothes, everything was cramped and cluttered, making it almost impossible to keep organized.
Looking for a practical solution, we decided to buy a bed trunk for our oldest son.
The difference was immediate: having that extra space under the bed gave us a little respite. But what really made the difference were some vacuum-sealed plastic bags, the kind you can remove the air from with a pump or vacuum cleaner.
We packed all the children's winter clothes inside, compressed them, and stored them in the trunk. The volume was reduced dramatically.
The idea is to repeat the same process at the end of next winter, but in reverse: storing the summer clothes to free up space. This way, we only use what's necessary for the season. It seems like a very simple thing, and it's not exactly a DIY project, but for those of us who live with the feeling that there's never enough closet space, this solution has been a real relief.
It's nothing sophisticated, but it feels like a small home hack that greatly improves daily life. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the ones that free up the most mental and physical space.
