Many of the people I spoke with for this story are centrist liberals. They are a disheartened bunch, and talking to them was hazardous to my own heart.
As I remarked regarding a recent Ezra Klein interview (#1227730), liberals are simply out of ideas because all their ideas have been proven wrong. Instead of getting despondent, maybe they should rethink their ideas.
