While Stripe has since launched their Marketplace, the ability to choose OpenNode still is not available. The entry for OpenNode shows "coming soon" (just as it did back when Stripe first announced their marketplace).

Stripe has apparently gone with a whitelabel exchange instead, Zero Hash, and has branded this offering as "Link".
Link, a Stripe product, uses Zero Hash, a liquidity partner, to facilitate crypto purchases made through the Link by Stripe widget. Zero Hash is responsible for the fulfillment and delivery of your crypto order placed through Link.

Old news is old.
The current situation is that Stripe went with a white label exchange service for what it was originally going to do with OpenNode. If they eventually do something yet with OpenNode, who knows. For now, the "fiat-to-crypto" functionality is done using their Link.co service.
