The effort Trump is doing to undermine the US economy right when China is ramping up in key areas it needed the US for before, is nothing short from sabotage. In the exact moment the US needs to be a world-wide powerhorse, Trump is slashing its legs left and right. At this point, it's treason.

seems like the approach is to force domestic reliance since the market is pushing the opposite way due to currency imbalances.

In order to force domestic reliance on such low level markets, you have to undermine high level markets to fill in the needed workforce. And that's exactly what Trump is doing with his recent attacks to high tech industries. Going back to the Stone Age for the sake of self reliance is not a good strategy to defend yourself.

Importing cabinets is pretty bonkers considering the bulk. When we renovated an old kitchen back in California, the quote from every big box store was 100% more expensive than using a local cabinet maker that had two employees. I'm sure the result wouldn't have been as good either. (To be fair we might've lucked out finding someone who worked efficiently and was underpriced.)

yeah i don't know much about the costs of these trucks but i can only imagine the imported ones were cheaper otherwise they wouldn't be out competing the local companies --this will only increase prices in the short term.
