Roberto Peña, just 18 years old, reached an agreement with the New York Mets, although it is not yet clear whether the official signing will be finalized during this period or as of January 15, 2026.

Peña, a native of Granma, has displayed a promising arsenal: a 93 MPH fastball, an 83 MPH changeup, an 81 MPH curveball, and a 91 MPH sinker.

His talent was evident from the youth ranks, when he was part of the Cuba U-15 team that finished runner-up in the 2022 World Cup. Now he is making the leap to professional baseball with one of MLB's iconic franchises.
