My two sats opinion:

Both are boring and tedious. They take your efforts and time to dive into. What people generally want is a place which is easier from beginning to end. That's why twitter and YouTube and Facebook have been successful as product, although every product is not for everyone. SN will always be a minority product until Bitcoin remains as minority money, may be even after that SN doesn't go parabolic on the number of user counts. The only reason why would everyone pay to post in when it can be done for free. Plus whatever is the content on SN is free to read. I assume many people visit SN daily read the stuff and walk away without creating account.
