I suspect governments won't disappear - humans seem to organize into hierarchical groups naturally, and the coordination problems of 8 billion people require some institutional structure. But they'd look radically different:
Leaner, more accountable, more competitive, and fundamentally limited by thermodynamic reality rather than monetary illusion.
The most profound change might be psychological: When government spending is transparently constrained, every allocation becomes a visible trade-off.
