I tend to believe people think a little before choosing a nym, because you can choose to name yourself anything AFAIK.
I thought pretty hard about my nym a few years ago, but I don't think of it any more.

Having used a number of different nyms, I do agree with you that they are a strong form of self-expression.
With Scoreby you comes across as analytical in judgement with a strong emphasis on numbers and facts, maybe it's the Score in scoresby?
