So, today i learned a new term. "Elevated Horror" are movies which, yes, are scary horror movies but otherwise have an artsy self understanding. They focus more in themes and concepts and less on jumpscares and gore.
I was shocked by this because this is exactly my kinda jam. But the implication usually is that this snobby high browness was fake and artificial.
What do you think? Does elevated horror exist as its own category? And are they good or too snobby?

I tend to go in for the cheesy kind of horror. Although, just from the list above, I've watched Lighthouse and Hereditary (Lighthouse = good, Hereditary = bad). Curious to hear your recommendations in this possibly existing category.
