🇵🇾 Nostr Meetup in Asunción: Community, Culture and Good Beer

Yesterday I had the chance to attend the Nostr Meetup, a gathering that brought together enthusiasts of technology, decentralization, and the Bitcoin Paraguay community.
The event took place in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by good people, cultural exchange, and of course, craft beer from 🍻 CraftBeerPY.
I had the pleasure of trying the Fernandina, a Blonde Ale with Cascade hops and a pleasant citrus touch: the perfect companion for a conversation about the future of free communication.

🌐 What is Nostr?

For those who couldn’t make it, here are the basics:
  • Nostr stands for Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays.
  • It’s an open and decentralized protocol for sharing messages, similar to a social network but with no owners or central servers.
  • It works with public and private keys, giving you sovereignty over your digital identity.
  • Messages are transmitted through relays, which anyone can run.
  • There’s no censorship: if one relay blocks you, you can publish on another.
In short, Nostr is a path toward freedom of expression and resilience in digital communication.

💻 My Personal Experience

I use Primal because it’s very convenient for me:
  • Works equally well on mobile 📱 and laptop 💻.
  • Has a simple and straightforward interface.
But the best part of Nostr is that you can choose any client you want: Damus, Amethyst, Iris, Coracle... and they all connect to the same protocol.

🤝 Community and Thanks

Beyond technology, what I value most is the community.
The meetup was a space for cultural exchange, friendship, and collaboration, with the warm hospitality of the 🇵🇾 Bitcoin Paraguay community.
There’s nothing better than talking about decentralization with a good beer in hand. 🍺

🚀 Final Reflection

Events like this show that Nostr is not just technology — it’s also culture, community, and a bet on freedom.
Here’s to more gatherings where good ideas and good beer come together.
