This is a desktop client for private messages, works fluently, and surprisingly, it has support for group chat! It leaves Whitenoise behind on this. Tested on macos:

Try it yourself, repo https://github.com/lumehq/coop

Group chat is pretty impressive!

Indeed, I was not expecting it to work. Not sure which nip is using, I know there's a bit of privacy concerns and some nip controversy on the topic.

Something whitenoise #688923 is trying to fix implementing a MSL protocol, something similar to what Signal currently provides, if not the same.

Interesting! How do it compares to Flotilla?

reply

For what I know, flotilla use different solution to enable group messages. Apparently, it force the "admin" to run a relay to keep messages in spaces private.

Coop is available for desktop only and Flotilla instead is currently is available from web as PWA, and for both mobile iOS and droid. APK v1.3 file available for download https://github.com/coracle-social/flotilla/releases it should probably be in the #534139 too

Thank you! Clearly two approaches with their own strengths.
