We already have lots of debates about v4v and marketing (see #803129) and I'm currently inviting artists to join Wavlake/Fountain and embrace value-for-value (see #1061738) but they keep me asking the how do I promote the v4v? which...honestly? Marketing for v4v...I don't know how to put it, some words about it would be helpful
Fantastic question!
We gotta market it by doing it. We must make this look fun and cool and I don't think we've done a good job of that yet. There are still so few of us doing this, I want MOAR folks to join. I want more younger folks in this, bring me an army of cool Gen Z folks.
V4V is a clunky term. I think there are still too many things to explain and I'm trying to pepper my phrasing with more descriptive, everyday language rather than jargon. We aren't gonna get where we want to be with hashtags. If we get jargon-y, we're only speaking to our bubble and we need to break the purple wall.
We have to market it by showing its successes, that this is FUN (because it is) and that it's for everyone. This is a great equalizer to come along after DECADES of media consolidation (thanks 1996 Bill Clinton 🙄 ). The centralization is so baked in, most folks are unaware of it.
We have to be able to explain things simply in plain language so V4V can appeal to anyone. I think we lose people when we throw in "the B Word" and too much tech speak about wallets, zaps, and boost. We just have to show it works and be good stewards of the tech, which will mean being a little less tech-y and more palatable to the masses. This isn't yet for the masses, but we do need enough folks to get into it for it to grow.
