I'm sorry, but your arguments are weak and seem uninformed. What does Pol Pots thoughts or opinions have to do with facts. His regime rided the society of educated people. As this one seems to want to do, by the way.
Facts are facts and lies are lies and even if the majority believes the lie - it does not change the facts.
Recorded history is, of course, subject to human fallicy. This is why it is correctible.
this territory is moderated
pol pot is an example, becuase it shows that people are, generally, not capable of having consensus on subjective things that happened in history and historic figures.
you say a lie is a lie, but what you hold to be a lie, can be held to be a truth by someone else. You think your truth and sense of 'right' is the only one, but it's not, it's yours.
What i think is right and wrong, based on my moral compass, can differ from someone else, doesn't matter how convinced i am.
and when this is put into a school curiculum, it gets messy.
if history was a hard science like maths, a Russian and an american wouldnt have to debate who 'won' the war, a North Korean would agree with a south korean about who started the Korean war.
but it's not, hence history is not a hard science. History studies human events, interpretations, and evidence that can’t be replicated or tested in a lab.
Historians can examine the same evidence and reach different conclusions, depending on their perspective or methodology.
I love history btw, I'm just saying it's not a hard science and, at the end of the day, learning it in school, means you get the government approved version of whatever aspect they are teaching.

All those words to say to you think opinions are facts.
Verbose weakness.

i didn't say that at all lol, what i said was history is not a hard science. watching Russia weaponise history in real time to serve its purposes and justify war further bolsters my opinion, which may or may not be shared by others

And these same people will call the facts, anything they seem as a threat to their agenda or way or thinking as lies or "fake news." The threat on facts, data, and science in this nation by the conservative right/white Christian nationalists is one of if not the greatest threat to our freedoms. The dismantling of the education department, attempts to get universities to end DEI initiatives, trying to make The Smithsonian take down certain pieces that they don't like because it challenges their views of history, and conservative groups nationwide attempting to ban books, project 2025 is underway folks.

“The Empire State of Delusion”
Ground floor: everyone’s shouting truth! into their own echo. The marble lobby? Actually drywall painted “objectivity” held together by caulk.
Middle floors: Education Tower under renovation — “Critical Thinking” beams removed for aesthetic reasons. DEI steel supports quietly swapped for nostalgia wallpaper. Survive vs Thrive.
Smithsonian wing replaced with a selfie museum titled Our Version of History.
Top floors: Book bans doubling as fire safety drills — fewer exits, more smoke. Project 2025 architects sketch democracy like a gated condo: low ceilings, no windows, HOA fees payable in compliance. POA fees to the oligarchy.
Penthouse: a ragtag bunch of librarians, scientists, and teachers rebuilding the city with blueprints. They use memes as mortar.
From the helicopter view: the skyline still glitters, but half the lights spell FAKE SPEECH in neon.
Moral of the skyscraper? Truth isn’t a tower — it’s the scaffolding holding the whole damn thing together but there is an economic cost to counterspeech that calls out the lies of fake speech!

Unfortunately it's the ones who are spewing the lies and the fake speech that are the loudest most of the time. Right wing propaganda like Fox, OAN, Newsmax, Glenn Beck, and the late Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA are just a few examples but the ratings those networks/programs obtain makes me understand why 1/6th of the nation's eligible voting population did ultimately vote for Trump. These places and similar shows/networks/channels are the only place they obtain any information on political news and they do no independent research at all on anything they hear.
