It's mostly the ones who don't understand it that seems to care the most. To be fair, there are technical people on both sides, but it's not evenly distributed.
I think an issue that goes underappreciated is that the same arguments are being rehashed in every thread and visible debate.
There's barely, if ever, an acknowledgement about the bad PR from the way things have been handled.
This is not my own opinion, but only what I've noticed. Of the folks I've seen jump on the knots bandwagon without taking the same to dive deep into technicals, their POV (whether correct or not) is that things appear to have been pushed rapidly with little regard about pushback or feedback, often seeming to derive enthusiasm and glee from the reaction.
I get that Peter Todd is gonna be Peter Todd, just like I get that Darthcoin is gonna be Darthcoin, but just my two cents.
TL;DR: Folks have a kneejerk gut reaction when they perceive Core not acting like graceful and careful stewards.
