From the very first paragraph (the link) it appears the shutdown is the real DOGE.

I suspect it will end very soon. A bit after these elections. That's what it's been all about. Today I think. So maybe a week or two more and it will all get worked out.
Its a clown show for the masses. The smart prepare for such things. The really smart get as far away from the state as they can. Political organization of society is the problem. The incentives are all wrong.

Agreed. The npcs shout no kings but want more government control. Where did their brains go? Into the toilet it seems

I know it is hard to imagine a world that doesn't revolve around voting, democracy, and elections but I think it would be a much better world. These clowns are not our friends. The whole lot is so bad that it makes it hard to see the rare good one.
People get hung up on the two teams and forget to zoom out and see the systematic issues. Few are looking at how we get past the issues. Its like the saying. When you have a hammer (democracy) every problem looks like a nail (elections).
We have a very divisive and divided nation. We aren't really one nation any longer. What we have is a few different cultures battling for the control of everyone else. Its so clear to me that this is the root issue. Don't get me wrong. I'm no fan of democracy but in a nation with a more unified culture it would work far better.
To me, the only way you have a nation this large that works is to decentralize and decrease the power of the state massively. But we know how that ends. A big centralized state like we have today. The US was created basically with the idea of decentralization. That fell apart pretty quickly. Civil war was the big nail in the coffin.
In California we are bombarded with ads for prop 50... to "save democracy". Its so stupid its not even funny anymore.

I voted "No", but there are too many npcs here for it to matter.

That's the thing... they don't think. They are largely NPCs.
We do not have a king. Trump is a strong man type of guy but he's no king. But honestly, I would prefer a king to what the left would put into place. I have a feeling a king would leave us alone more than these politicians that seek to get votes by telling us how they will fix all our problems. They create 10 problems for every one they try to solve.
They have little incentive to fix things and more incentive to "do something". I'm pretty burned out on the whole political thing. I just hear stupid thing after stupid thing. The stuff that passes for ideas is pretty depressing.

If we look at Europe, maybe that's where we're headed.
But i'm a premillennial, I never expected the world would get better before the second coming

Yeah... I think it can get much worse and probably will before it gets better. If it gets better.

The main reason I say that is because I don't think one side can dominate the other yet that seems to be the goal of both sides. Its really quite mad to me.
The bare minimum simple solution would be for the feds to retreat and allow states to have more autonomy in how they organize society. Then people could vote with their feet. Why should a Californian care about the voting/laws in Florida?

One lesson all the statists should learn from this is if something is truely important it should NOT be controlled by the political system but rather voluntary free exchange.
Those that depend on the state suffer the most from its ineptitude. I sometimes have friends that are with my in opposition to the war machine but they act concerned about the so called safety net. How safe is it actually?
I would argue that the needy would be better served by church's, community groups, and fraternal orders than government programs.
People often say that the cost to do this is to high. It has to be done by the state. This is a myth. First of all the state doesn't create value. Even the money printing doesn't. The state only steals from one group to support another. And in doing so it usually wastes a massive amount.
Those suffering today would be better off if private voluntary charity were there source of assistance.
Another reason is that the cycle of dependency would be decreased, not increased. Local groups have much better connectivity with the people they help. I know the groups I have worked with know who really needs help vs who is just lazy.
I'm under no illusions about a transition phase being rough but that is the fault of politicians and the dependency that has been established.
The truth is that a truly unfettered free economy would be so prosperous all boats would rise. We'd still need to care for our neighbors and families but I think even those that see the state for what it is underestimate how massive the improvement would be.
