pissed off that I wasted so many years believing the pro-plant, pro-carb nonsense.
I feel that. I was HCLF vegan for 7 years. I was wasting away. Constipated 24/7. Dentist rose the alarm with the amount of bone loss in my teeth.
I haven't gone full carnivore, but now I eat meat. It's definitely made an improvement in my life. Lately I have been experimenting with no sugar and no wheat. Made the decision after watching No. 1 Sugar Expert: You've Been Sold A Lie About "Healthy" Food! A light bulb lit up when he said the food is a desert if it's got sugar in the top 3 ingredients. I'm seeing if I can wait until Thanksgiving for a cheat day.
I have been keeping a list of foods and the effects I feel after eating them. Realized that so many of them leave me bloated with mood swings, anxiety, muscle pain (inflammation?), 🎵 nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea! 🎵 😛
Some of it is definitely allergies, which really sucks. I was never allergic to anything until I was a fully grown adult. I could tank any food and my body would just put it away without consequence. Makes me appreciate my youth more.
Glad to hear you're eating meat again! I'll have to watch that video.
Very soon after reading the book that set me on this path (The Big Fat Lie, it was my first carnivore-related post) I read 2 books on sugar that really opened my eyes - Pure White and Deadly by John Yudkin, and The Case Against Sugar by Gary Taubes. Great reading. Those books basically convinced me that sugar (unless in really low doses) is basically a very low grade poison, that's also addictive. So, a bad combo.
You might want to look at the book Carnivore In The Kitchen for recipes that can satisfy a sweet tooth. She has some dessert recipes that I make for special occasions, that are carnivore (lots of dairy, and I'll add strawberries for a holiday treat). I like them, but definitely am only willing to make that kind of extra effort just once or twice a year. Making the treats yourself is a good way to limit consumption.
