So, the FAA became kinda like the Washington Monument of this shutdown.
We all know safe air travel is essential, but whenever it comes to DOGE and cutting costs, the Keynesians always ask who will provide air traffic control if we stop the federal government fund flow?
This question is academic, obviously, but what kind of business model do you think works based on a private profit motive, and a light-touch from the government (lighter than at least employing so many flight controllers directly)?
I mean for example, assume the government can still enforce contracts, as in the FBI, the police forces exist. Then can the airlines (already private) come together as a sort of consortium that will hire the traffic controllers and pay based on their number of flights (may be segregated by state airspace)

Yes, that is exactly what I have been thinking. It would require more trust in the airlines but almost no trust in government.
