I could have gone home early this Friday, but I chose to accompany my colleague on his trip to Woodlands Ring Primary School with his Floorball club.
Given how conformist Singapore’s educational system is, it never fails to intrigue me how each school strives to do something that is different from the norm and build its unique identity. Same same, but different. For this primary school, the hydroponics garden in the canteen caught my attention. So did the colourful wall that was decorated with Maths formulae.
I consider my afternoon well spent because I got to read my Science notes. Relearnt how mould needs water and warmth to grow. And came across a question in which students can choose either the concept of energy or the concept of forces to answer it. The latter had me bewildered for the longest time, so I was elated to have broadened my pedagogical knowledge.
All in all, an enriching afternoon.
