CBDCs assume a level of competence that my government most likely lacks. I find it more plausable that they will simply attempt to capture existing payment rails. They could also phase out cash and ban fiat-to-bitcoin ramps.
If we do see a CBDC in the UK, it will not be anytime soon. Perhaps in 5-10 years, and who knows where Bitcoin will be by then?
