I feel like if they were really serious about it, they should at least pretend to attempt to pay back the national debt with that money, or even better, use it to fulfil the campaign promise of the national bitcoin reserve.

But we know this is never going to happen, as well as I doubt that they will actually make this 2k payments. Governments are not equipped for this kind of logistically challenging operation. Money will be wasted, stolen, embezzled in doing so...
