humanity is being strategically dumbed down from all directions; besides the environmental toxicity, there is also relentless https://www.merriam-webster.com/slang/enshittification of information - people's attention is being polluted;

stacker.news is supposed to be a place where sound ideas & intentions are shared; a place where parasites, gamblers, addicts, wrong-thinkers cannot hide and shud be shunned, ridiculed, mercilessly downzapped;
a few glaring examples:

sports circuses:

athletics shud be focused on feats of human strength & agility (see inspirational Animatrix below), such as new world records based on physical performance, habits that form strong bodies, tools to truly improve the body's innate abilities! instead, the ~Stacker_Sports section is dominated by garbage like fantasy football, despite the common knowledge that many sports outcomes are fixed, and of the https://www.statnews.com/2025/11/11/sports-betting-apps-public-health-crisis/;

prediction markets:

this is the epitome of gambling - betting on certain outcomes for the sake of being right and winning some sats, rather than reasoning/arguing what is probable based on sound judgement, and contemplating how to prepare urself and ur family for the outcomes; the ~oracle territory is a den of evil distractions;

endless stock market analysis, aka tea-leaf reading at ~Stacker_Stocks;

Robert Downey Jr. visited the Wall Street stock market in 1992 and reflected on the experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTCqFplhk3M; by the way, "stock" originally refers to cattle; u are literally watching cattle being herded from one trap into another;

AI-slop and low-value posts:

links with no description; links with copy-pasted content; posts with AI-generated summaries; quick comments masquerading as a post; and outright "please zap me!" comments;

all of the above and other similar text inputs are pathetic, useless, and wrong;
do not pollute stackers' attention - u are my enemy - u shall be muted and ur comments/posts downzapped; ur revenue from parasitic activity shall dwindle; u will either learn to share quality information, or eventually drown in ur own dead slop; do not fool urself - ur own slop is dumbing down ur consciousness as well, and ur health will inevitably follow;

for those who say "oh, i know, but people gonna do what they gonna do, let the market decide" - u are also an abomination, u are supporting and encouraging the dumbing down of consciousness; u are likewise my enemy, only slightly below the overt shitcoiners and fiat-maxis;
https://m.stacker.news/117093

what can u do, humble stacker?
the downzapping feature works; as new stackers come in, they shud learn some discernment of what is good and what is useless, bad, or wrong; thankfully, this platform is not as polluted as some centralized options out there; pay-to-post is a decent gate-keeper of the garbage; obviously, do not zap dumb responses - u are participating in the circle-jerk!
just as u pick up garbage in and around ur own house, please consider cleaning up ur stacker.news feed on a routine basis; it takes a quantum (number) of people to create a condition as well as to change a condition; keep stacker.news great, downzap the trash!

for those who say "oh, i know, but people gonna do what they gonna do, let the market decide" - u are also an abomination
This is very curious to me. You see, in the famous words of Russ Roberts (which I may be making up) "It's not magic that bread shows up at the bakery." Markets make it so bread shows up, and so that there is enough of it.
When you get command economies that try to dictate or plan what sort of bread should show up where, they fail quite miserably.
So maybe the market for information is similar, maybe not. But, it seems to me markets don't see our moral opinions, they just see what people are willing to do.
If you want more sourdough, it seems clear that you should zap more sourdough, so that more bakers will bake it. That is likely the number one way to get more sourdough on the mainpage.
Probably makes sense to even downzap white bread or croissants or whatever it is you don't like. Starting a campaign to get others to do the same is great, too.
Going on about enemies and abominations and all that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If you don't like markets, create a church. But you might find that churches don't make very good bread.

@NEEDcreations, have u got some good New Testament verses to go along with the post?
reply
I like Colossians 3:23 in response to low-value AI Slop: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." This verse encourages believers to approach their work with dedication and purpose, viewing it as a service to God. Being lazy with AI posts is antithetical to this.
As for gambling with prediction markets for the sake of making money, I might go with 1 Timothy 6:10: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." Also Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." I have to admit that I've done my fair share of fantasy sports and usage of prediction markets. I don't see the harm in playing around for fun. But one must be careful not to stray from the faith and make money your master as the verses suggest. I think people in Bitcoin also tend get obsessed with number-go-up which is a big problem.
Additionally, I think 1 Corinthians 10:13 fits well in response to this post as well: "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man." This verse reminds us that distractions are common and can be overcome.

I certainly agree with those. Your focus on "deceive", the last one, seems to use an overly broad definition to condemn an entire territory, and an emerging technology for improving predictive capabilities. I'm with you on AI slop and low value posts.
