Indeed. It's foolish in most cases. I don't really care what this book says but your point is correct here. When the masses peacefully ignore unjust laws at a certain point the political system has to choose. Should we follow their lead or chose a fight we might lose. We have seen this in home schooling. Many parents did this even though it was illegal or at best legally I certain. As the numbers of families doing this climbed the political class had to choose. The fight isn't done on this front but the tide has shifted.
I think it's a good model. Don't poke the bear but also resist tyranny. Be smart about it. If you want to be a martyr, be a martyr. But I don't think that is what is going on in most cases. I tip my hat to those that prepare legally to fight and go into it with the resources to win on the state's turf but this is not what most people are doing. They are just being foolish.
