Former Prime Minister David Cameron has revealed he has been treated for prostate cancer. Lord Cameron, 59, told the Times newspaper his wife had insisted he go for a check-up after they listened to a BBC radio interview with entrepreneur Nick Jones, who was campaigning for more men to be tested after being diagnosed himself.
The UK still doesn’t have a national prostate cancer screening program (accuracy concerns with PSA tests), even though it’s now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the country. A major new trial only just launched this week to figure out better screening methods.

He says he went public because men tend to ignore health issues, and early detection is what gave him the chance to treat it in time
