I like the author filter. It's a cool way to discover posts on a particular subject from those most informed on a topic.
It still lacks a lot of sources and could use a logo or something.
It's a nice idea.
I don't think they intend to do this but you can imagine them expanding into other topics and whitelisting sources in a similar way. Kind of a regression from Google, but probably gets rid of a lot of noise.
