Man, i wanna eat those oysters.

Interesting to learn how the locals lead a self-sustaining lifestyle

Hi @cryotosensei, thank you for reading and your comment. I enjoy oysters, even raw. I only eat them cooked now due to concerns about what they may be harboring. šŸ˜§šŸ‰

Do you have any sustainable lifestyle habits? Compost is one of mine. Decentralized food goes with the cypherpunk ethos.

reply

Erm not really. I recycle preloved books and papers in the recycling bins near my house, but that’s it haha.

What kind of compost system do your employ? I am going to be the in charge of the sustainability initiatives at the school that I teach at next year - and am keen to learn from other people’s experiences!

reply

recycling is sustainable, it sustains the earth for people šŸ˜„

for me, once the pile of compost is large enough (vegetable scraps, egg shells, coffee grinds, ect) it gets buried next to a tree for the root system and mycelium to enjoy. I wish to have a garden to use this ā€œblack gold" on eventually.

composting would be a good initiative for the school as green/biological waste can be collected in bins.

I have been wanting to build a compost bin but haven’t had a chance to get to it so thank you for sharing this tip about burying it next to the root of a tree. That is way more convenient for me at the moment.

I learnt about mycelium before! It’s such a strong material that it can be used as a construction material.

Is it edible?
