Several stackers have lost access to the lightning wallets they used to login to SN. I can't help you when this happens. Or if Twitter bans you, etc. When you login by any method, the contract is "I have to prove myself by this method to authenticate in the future."
Even if there's little reason to gain access to another user's account on SN today, and even if I believe you, I cannot break the above contract. There's no other proof that suffices absent me knowing you personally and knowing for a fact that that is your account.
Link more than one auth method. I don't store anything that isn't absolutely necessary for support of the authentication method you choose.
Read our privacy policy if you have concerns: https://stacker.news/privacy. If you're still concerned about privacy, voice the concerns and we'll do our best to fix them. SN wants to earn your sats and your ideas, not your private data.
Thanks for the reminder.
I used @Alby to log in with Lightning. I then updated the extension and when I log in now I get a different account on SN. Yes, I am using the same Alby account (it's the one I have on my password manager).
No big deal as my SN account was not big and had ~5000 sats, but I am hesitant to trust Alby again.

It’s might be a key derivation issue/change. I’d reach out to Alby. I remember hearing there’s a setting to use their old key derivation method but I don’t know for certain

For the record: It was a derivation path issue. I have no idea why the Legacy LNURL-Auth setting was turned on, I switched it back off and all good.

Whenever there's a stable spec for it. I know they're thinking about it but I haven't seen anything solidify.

it's bizarre to have so much user activity on something so nascent. It's like we're all partying in the alpha while watching the plebs set up the event

That's a lot of the fun right now!

Why SN asks for full read / write access when trying to link GitHub?

For some reason it does. https://ibb.co/GWPJ48P
URL goes to scope=user, if I change manually to scope=read:user, then it is ok.

The underlying library might be overriding my setting or I'm doing something wrong. I'll open myself a GH issue and try to fix it.
