It's deja vu all over again! My survivor pool was a bloodbath, the Chiefs deserve to be crossed off, Giannis trade talks are heating up, and the Thunder are historically great.

In new news, there've been some big NHL trades and Joe Burrow might retire.

Also, we might finally get around to covering the MLB.

What else do you all want to hear about?

my mom loves the Thunder, you could talk about that?

reply

You are welcome to join us to discuss your mom's passion for the Thunder.

reply

Or, she and her mom could join

reply

I’ll tell my mom about stacker sports when I head home for Christmas

reply

Maybe my wife will no longer be our only ever female listener.

reply

My daughter listened to 2 minutes of an episode once before asking me to change it to her Disney songs.

reply

I think @Car may have played a few seconds of the first episode on SNL, so perhaps @plebpoet also counts.

reply

thanks :) special to belong to such an exclusive group

But is she a real fan or a bandwagonner?

reply

I'd say a real fan, but Thunder is an interesting case. OKC as an entire place jumped on the bandwagon when they hosted the Hornets - which became Thunder. Right?

reply

I think that was the Seattle SuperSonics

The Hornets became the Pelicans, then the Bobcats replaced the Hornets and later became the Hornets again. I think

reply

yep it was sonic ur right

what makes a real fan?

reply

I think the Hornets may have played in OKC temporarily after Katrina forced them out of New Orleans

reply

I went to one of those games

Follows the team even when they're bad, I think. I once tried to talk to a girl about the Dodgers coz I knew she was a super fan, and she basically said, "Oh yeah everyone's talking to me about them now coz they're good"

reply

I think Saturday night's NBA Cup semi finals games would have concluded when you guys do the pod, yes? If the Spurs do end up beating the Thunder (which I think is unlikely, but still possible), I really shot myself in the foot for the prediction contest by changing my NBA Cup winner pick from the Spurs to the Thunder. At least I think I have some early Spurs winning NBA Cup shares on Predyx, so it won't be a complete disaster even if Spurs do win.

reply

Game will be on while we are recording. We record at 10pm et.

I changed my prediction contest pick to the Raptors. Haha. Ooops.

reply

Knowing the Thunder, the game might be over by the time we record

reply

I think Spurs will at least make it a game.

reply

That reminds me of a market I need to put up.

reply

That'll give @SimpleStacker a nice little midseason lead. No one else has a full-points Spurs pick.

reply

NICE

My goal is to win a sportsball contest without knowing what I picked.

reply

I don't want to spoil anything for you, but it's looking pretty good right now.

reply

Maybe the Bucs should be crossed off. I am not sure why they are playing this poorly. They were 6-2 when all their wide receivers were hurt and Baker was playing hero ball. Maybe they should only put one of their weapons on the field at a time.

I heard the Raptors were trading for Anthony Davis.

reply

We can't cross off the Bucs. That would lock in a loss for the season. You tied us to the Bucs mast.

AD to the Raptors makes a lot of sense. What would the package be?

reply

"You tied us to the Bucs mast." Clever.

My theory was the Panthers would need to win both against the Bucs and that probably wasn't going to happen but I did not foresee the Bucs losing two divisional games in a row to the Saints and Falcons and backing themselves into a corner where they are the ones who will need to win both of the head to head matchups. Bucs were in first in the division, had an easier remaining schedule and held the first tiebreaker (divisional record) when I tied our fate to them.

I defend my rationale but will admit I should have given more weight to how poorly the Bucs have been playing recently.

Barrett, Poeltl, Agbaji and a first round pick.

tldr. My theory was that the Bucs suck

What does Dallas need Poetl for? Still, I'd certainly give that up for AD.

reply

Poeltl helps matchup salary and gives them another big since they are losing AD. Poeltl is good. He isn't great but he is a starter level C.

reply

I know, but Dallas already has two good centers in Lively and Gafford. None of the three of them can really play together.
