@1440000bytes sent this note to the Bitcoin Development Mailing List yesterday.

Hi everyone,

The old bitcoin-dev mailing list had a secondary mailing list for moderated emails: https://lists.ozlabs.org/listinfo/bitcoin-dev-moderation

I have created a similar list for bitco...@googlegroups.com, with the email address bitcoin-dev...@googlegroups.com. If your email is moderated and you cannot see it on https://groups.google.com/g/bitcoindev/, please resend it with the moderation list email address in the Cc or Bcc.

If you weren't aware, the Bitcoin Development Mailing List is moderated (I believe @kanzure is the main moderator for the list). I'm sure it's a pretty thankless job dealing with all the fluff and slop that is aimed at the list and trying to figure out what actually contributes to interesting discussion on the list.

Floppy's proposal of cc'ing things to a second list that promises the firehose may be worthwhile. I'm trying to think through the downsides of such a proposal, but it mostly seems like a good idea to me.

I suppose it could lead to fractured discourse where people now need to follow two separate mailing lists in order to not miss things, and that would be bad, I think. But the alternative is that the mailing list editors bear a pretty hefty responsibility and will always be accused of "hiding" or "burrying" emails.

What do you think?
