I find this a little interesting that they are looking to launching a league in Europe when Europe already has leagues. It just seems that the easier thing to do would be to partner with the existing teams and leagues rather than build it from scratch.
Bankers from JPMorgan and the Raine Group have met with more than 70 potential investors, with plans to solicit nonbinding bids as early as next month, according to people familiar with the matter.
It does seem that the NBA isn't going to be completely building from scratch but again this announcement is pretty confusing.... Franchise values could reach $1 million..... I mean that is stupid low???
The NBA said it will also provide financial support and resources to European basketball. It plans to invest in domestic leagues and development across FIBA’s existing programs to create a pipeline of coaches, players and referees, according to the Monday release.
The last I had heard about this plan, it sounded like the idea was to basically incorporate a few of the big market existing teams into a small league.
This actually could make for a better NBA-America. Did they say when NBA-EUR would be in season?
Just trying to grow the brand around the world.
