Judge reduces sex criminal's jail time because of his race

"A former university football player who sexually assaulted two women has been sentenced to just two years in prison because he is black and was feeling intense pressure around the time of the attacks, the judge said."

feeling intense pressure around the time of the attacks

I didn't realize blueballs was an excuse. Too soon?

reply

He claims living in a white university town without an immigrant community around was traumatizing. Why did he choose to go to that school? Because he got a free ride to play football?

It's ridiculous.

reply

That sounds like a strong argument for segregation. They get that they're making a strong argument for segregation, right?

reply

It's Canada there is no logic applied to any of this. It's all performative. As much as I don't like Carney at least he isn't spending his time on crap like this which is what Trudeau spent all his time on.

Doesn't all land in Vancouver belong to the indians now?

reply

I don't know did they pass a law. I know before events they do these acknowledgements. Even before my daughter's dance recitals. The hall they have it at does a long spiel about how we are on stolen land and we the land belongs to x tribe and y people. The first time I heard this I joked with my dad I was going to call the Hall and say I was indigenous from one of those tribes and I appreciated them recognizing the hall was on our land so would I be able to get free tickets. Haha. I never did it though.

The Canucks axed the Land Acknowledgement this year.

reply

That feels like a bold move. Was it a bold move?

I didn't know that. Are other NHL teams doing it?

Wouldn't you be more annoyed if someone kept pointing out that they stole your property but still weren't returning it?

It really seems like people should either give them their land back or shut up about it.

reply

I guess these people are getting what they voted for, right? Since I'm guessing many of them had no problems with those land acknowledgements that their institutions were doing all the time.

It's real, dude

Yes, in fact I believe it's been pointed out multiple times. I don't know if they actually get it though.

From the article:

A former university football player who sexually assaulted two women has been sentenced to just two years in prison because he is black and was feeling intense pressure around the time of the attacks, the judge said.

Omogbolahan Jegede, 25, had choked one of the women almost into unconsciousness.

“It should be noted that but, for the contents of the Impact of Race and Culture Assessment (IRCA), the pre-sentence report and all the mitigating factors surrounding Omogbolahan (Teddy) Jegede, this sentence would have been much higher,” Justice Frank Hoskins said in his Nova Scotia Supreme Court decision on Wednesday.

The women were attacked in residences at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S., in 2022 and 2023. One woman testified that Jegede choked her; one woman was forced to perform oral sex. Both women said they were physically dominated by Jegede, who is much larger than they are.

A slap in the face of the victim. I have not read the article, but can they challenge that decision?

Something almost no-one sees, is that most blacks, especially if Africans, have left their countries precisely because of the in/direct consequences of multiculturalism, and tragically, the ridiculous reason given as justification for this crime shows that they are repeating the same problems they ran away from, in their host countries.

My Alma mater. Note there’s a lot of “immigrant” students there and a very welcoming environment

I figured it would be.

reply

Unfortunately, I think this is the inevitable result of secular legal theories that find no transcendent basis for human moral responsibility. If we are all merely the deterministic products of our environment, then how can moral responsibility be anything but conditional on said environment?

Unless this trajectory is changed, expect to see more and more legal theories blaming parents, blaming schools, blaming society, blaming anything but the individual for the crimes done by the individual.

reply

Do you not believe there can be mitigating circumstances based upon someones background?

Here in New Zealand 52% of prison inmates are Maori. 18% of our population are Maori.

More than 60% of our prison inmates are functionally illiterate.

reply

Sexual assault including choking someone to the point of nearly passing out does not have any such mitigating circumstances.

Millions of people live in much more dire conditions and do not commit such heinous crimes.

reply

I think if you have a situation where it is provable that the accused was routinely discriminated against or harmed due to their race an argument could be made for leniency. I don't think choosing to go to a university in an all white town qualifies. If he didn't like the school he could have transferred elsewhere. I don't know the details but considering this school is across the country from where his parents live I would imagine he went there because he got a free ride to play football for them. He chose to go there. He chose to live across the country from his family and in an practically all white community with no immigrants.

I also think it is dependent on the offense. If someone who grew up in poverty and lacks education is convicted of stealing or selling drugs maybe you could make an argument their circumstances led to desperation but I don't think this should come into play when the crime inflicts significant physical harm on others.

Am just saying: historically, rape has often been considered a capital crime, right next to murder.

As a father of two daughters, my response would be cut his balls off. Solves his problem and society's at the same time.

reply

Too bad! These are loopholes of democracy.

India has reservation in Government jobs and promotion on the basis of castes and creeds + many rules that allow the reserved castes to bypass charges. There are even such acts which say if you call someone's caste name, they may use you.

reply

Don't many Indians dislike the caste system?
