It’s thanks to my decluttering routine that I have started to spot themes in how I take photos.
In a previous life, I would make it a point to visit the post office in the prefecture I conquered in Japan. During that time, prefectural postcards depicting iconic landmarks and signature dishes were the rage - and I wanted to collect them all! I even used to paste them on my wall in my apartment, arranging them in the form of a map of Japan, displaying all the prefectures I had conquered.
This may explain why postboxes and stamps hold a certain fascination for me. When my kids have grown up and I resume my global-trotting lifestyle, I know that I will dig out this photo and have fun comparing and contrasting the postboxes in various countries.
